I'm actually failing at writing right now, I've been at a complete block for two months now.

(Of course, if I did, he'd build it just big enough to hold one book... and that book wouldn't be Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.)

Do you try to write every day even if your writing feels like crap to you?
Have you read Dorothea Brand Becoming a Writer http://www.amazon.co.uk/Becoming-Writer-Dorothea-Brande/dp/0874771641/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257299643&sr=1-1
as a start it might be very helpful. JUST WRITE ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING DON'T BE AFRAID OF WHAT'S IN YOU. This book is one I constantly refer too. I try to write everyday even if its a bad as 200 words and or Forum Posts or most 7000 words.

Actually, I do write just about every day on this forum. Maybe that's sapping my reserves...

My attention span for fiction writing is about 5 minutes. Thus the stories are rather short. They are on a thread here. Also on a blog.

this one was about the longest

Then maybe you should get down to do some proper writing.
I must admit when I am being cowardly about my quota I rely on Forum posts/and or Blog Posts to do my fill.
I would let your mind heart spirit body etc roam freely and write anything and everything that comes into your head, or stuff you feel deep down or dare not admit you feel. I would get book I suggest. There are others but this is my Bible and I recommend it to you. Don't let yourself be hindered by what you should/shouldn't write ( I just get hindered by the who aspect grrh) just let yourself go. Regard it as Practice, Practice, Practice.
Since I started writing several years ago I have noticed my writing has gotten better and better the more I persist with it and different types of writing ie academic, creative etc require different things. The Science part of this Site is gonna require a whole paradigm shift in writing and self expression per se (at least as a Neophyte Learner perhaps one would wear an L Plate in the Science Sections The Philosphy too), so you just need to rediscover the inner writer that is in you that has got blocked.
take carexx

I am trying to write a Novel (for Nanowrimo ) in exceedingly rough rough draft about the forgotton disabled and mentally ill being euthanised etc in the Nazi Holocaust so I am having to be the Academics, the shrinks, the Victims and the Villians....

I haven't been able to pull together coherent bits for some time now, so I just have a notebook filled with scraps of my rambling. Some of it resembles poetry, but most of them are just random sentences or paragraphs that I've documented on the off-chance that one will inspire me to go further eventually.
