Muahahahahahaaaa! I'm just worried PZ let the cat out of the bag too early and that some of Expelled's associates will see his blog post and evict Dawkins from the movie before he's had a chance to see the whole thing.

Expelled - an update.

Postby Antangil » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:29 am

Not sure how many people on here don't read Pharyngula, but for anyone that doesn't:

Richard Dawkins is watching Expelled. Right now. In Minneapolis.

This is the beginning of something wonderful...

*** STOP PRESS ***

LATEST NEWS FROM PZ MYERS

PZ Myers, whom the producers of Expelled co-opted by fraudulent means to appear in their movie, was apparently told by security staff at a screening that the producers of the film had EXPLICITLY SPECIFIED THAT HE WAS TO BE DENIED ACCESS TO THE SCREENING, and the security staff told him that if he tried to gain entry to the screening, that police would be called and he would be ARRESTED ...

But here's the best bit ...

The same security staff ALLOWED PZ's family and an invited guest to enter the cinema and see the screening.

The identity of the invited guest?

None other than OUR VERY OWN RICHARD DAWKINS.

You can't make this up.

How UTTERLY RETARDED is it for Ben Stein and company to BAN PZ Myers, one of the VERY PEOPLE they filmed for the movie, from watching a screening, ONLY TO LET RICHARD DAWKINS IN?

I guess PZ Myers is more famous than Dawkins LOL

Postby atheist1981 » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:49 am

Both were going to the Expelled movie and a police officer had PZ leave the property but left Dawkins all alone:

Oh my; that is just hilarious.

Imagine, banning one of the 'stars' of the movie from attending its screening!
Well that goes to show their honesty doesn't it?!

PZ Myers ~ EXPELLED!

Postby obscured by clouds » Fri Mar 21, 2008 3:53 am

So I had the pleasure of attending the movie Expelled with PZ Myers and Richard Dawkins this evening. Long story short, PZ Myers was asked to leave by the producers, read more here! http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/03/expelled.php

Dawkins made it in, more to come on this, gotta run going to dinner with them now!

Richard simply HAS to post here about what it was like.

Oh, I suggested to PZ Myers that he call CNN. Can't WAIT to see if he takes up the suggestion and secures an interview on live prime time TV.

I have heard from reliable sources that efforts are being made to contact the media on this

Not only was PZ escorted out, but escorted out by police. Yes there were police at this event. They also were walking up and down the the theater during the movie and they had night vision goggles!

There was a Q&A after the movie with the producer, and yes RD did ask a question though I won't spoil what happened! RD should be writing something up on this, not sure when it will happen.

Now I have a terrifying image of Buffalo Bill lookalikes roaming the theater in the dark.

This is pure comedy gold.

I was on Pharnygula and just had to come here and see if Richard had posted on it.

Suffice to say tommorow is going to be a great moment in the history of atheism.

Epic. Looking forward to RD's account...

I can just imagine the newspaper reports:
Dr Dawkins left the screening looking ashen faced, when asked for his opinion of the film he replied,
'That's it, I'm retiring from the RDF and closing down operations. I just can't argue with that!'
It was later reported that he was seen at the local baptist church prostrating himself on the ground, begging the lords forgiveness.
