New member. First post!
Yes, one can be a unitarian universalist and an Atheist.
We just started a group in Annapolis, Maryland, called the "UUCA Skeptics Freethinkers Agnostics and Atheists" because we couldn't actually settle on a name and wanted to move on to other things.
We meet twice monthly beginning with a three session book discussion of Dawkins' The God Delusion
We are now reading Vaillant's Spiritual Evolution, about which I, as a neurologist, am quite skeptical.
Next month we're planning a winter solstice field trip to the National Museum of Natural History's exhibit Evolution of Evolution marking the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.
And January we start with Dawkins' Greatest Show on Earth
Any other UUs out there?
Anybody have comments on George E Vaillant or Spiritual Evolution?

Know people who think that Evolution is "Only a Theory" ? Maybe show them this explanation of what a scientific theory actually is and why Evolution is as scientifically sound and factual as the Laws of Gravity. And for further discussion on "controversies" in Evolution, take a look at the Talk Origins Archives
